The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) released its most recent Adult Cardiac Surgery National Database report on Thursday, May 16, 2013. In the current analysis of national data covering the period from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2012, Centerpoint Medical Center's cardiac surgery program has been awarded the highest national quality rating – 3 stars – from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery. Only 14 percent of hospitals nationwide received this 2012 STS 3-star rating.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Our patients deserve the best care; this recognition noticeably places Centerpoint Medical Center among leading hospitals in the nation for coronary artery bypass grafting surgery. Quality outcomes are a result of superior training, thousands of cases managed yearly and 100 percent dedication to bringing the best state-of-the-art technology and techniques to our community. Receiving this recognition demonstrates our commitment to providing the finest cardiovascular care for our patients. We are very proud of the entire cardiac surgery team,” said David Williams, Centerpoint Medical Center CEO.
This is the third consecutive reporting period Centerpoint has received the 3-star quality rating, and the fourth time receiving the highest STS quality rating since data collection began in 2009.
