Centerpoint Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare and emergency care provider—will debut Rapid Care Path Emergency Services at an open house on Monday, Nov. 20. Rapid Care Path is specially designed to provide patients with high-quality, ER-level care for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries and will be available to the public beginning Tuesday, Nov. 21.

With Rapid Care Path, patients will see a physician within 10 minutes of arrival at Centerpoint Medical Center’s Emergency Room and, during the registration and evaluation process, a medical expert determines if the patient is a candidate for Rapid Care Path. If the minor illness or injury—like cold symptoms, sore throat, insect bites and stings, allergic reactions, rashes, suture removal, lacerations and ear complaints, among others—qualifies for Rapid Care Path, the patient is escorted directly to a private treatment room for diagnosis and any necessary labs or tests are ordered.  On average, patients qualifying for Rapid Care Path will be discharged, on average, within 90 minutes of their arrival to the Emergency Room.

Centerpoint Medical Center Medical Director of Emergency Services Michael Museousky, D.O., notes that Rapid Care Path is an innovative, efficient approach to non-emergent treatment that allows other emergency room professionals to focus on patients suffering from life-threatening issues like trauma. stroke, burn and heart attack, among others.

“Rapid Care Path helps ensure that patients visiting our ER receive the appropriate, high-quality care for their treatment or illness,” Dr. Museousky says. “Because a patient’s care path is determined according to their unique situation, they and their loved ones are more satisfied knowing what treatment to expect next.”

“Centerpoint Medical Center is dedicated to delivering convenient access to healthcare 24/7 and Rapid Care Path is a solution for patients to receive the right care at the right time,” says Centerpoint Medical Center Chief Executive Officer David Williams.  “This service aligns with our commitment to the compassionate care and improvement of human life, above all else.

Centerpoint Medical Center is Eastern Jackson County’s only Level II Trauma Center. Services include:
