Centerpoint Medical Center celebrated EMS Week by connecting trauma patients with the first responders who work every day to save lives. Carl and Pam Bryant, an Independence couple, experienced a life-changing moment on a cold January morning when a ring at the doorbell revealed a shooter who left both critically wounded and in need of quick action. Emergency personnel, including EMS responders and Independence Fire and Police, secured the scene to ensure a timely transport to Centerpoint’s Level II Trauma Center. After months of care and rehabilitation the couple was able to meet those lifesavers face-to-face, thanking EMS for their quick action and extraordinary care.
