Interventional Cardiology

Interventional cardiologists intervene when you are having an acute heart conditions (comes on suddenly). Procedures commonly performed by interventional cardiologists include:

  • Revascularization by percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
  • Percutaneous left ventricular assist device


Cardiologists who specialize in abnormal heart rhythms (electrophysiologists) use diagnostic tests to identify the cause of the irregularity. They use procedures such as:
