Centerpoint Hosts 5K Run/Walk to Benefit Shared Care Free Clinic
September 14, 2010
Since 2000, the Shared Care Free Clinic of Jackson County (formerly known as the Jackson County Free Health Clinic has provided primary care, chronic disease management and on-site dispensary services for uninsured adults with chronic illness. The clinic’s goal is to provide patients with the education, skills and encouragement to take charge of their health and to prevent the complications of untreated chronic conditions. To assist the Clinic with their mission, Centerpoint Medical Center, part of HCA Midwest Health System, is hosting a 5K Run/Walk to raise funds for and awareness of the Clinic.
The Centerpoint Striders …for Health 5K Run/Walk will be held at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010. The run/walk will start and end at the hospital.
Runners/walkers will enjoy a great course that will circle around Centerpoint Medical Center and then into the neighborhood to the north of the hospital. In addition, participants will enjoy:
- A certified course
- Chip timing
- 100 percent cotton shirts
- Awards and food at the end
This is the second year that Centerpoint Medical Center has sponsored this 5K Run/Walk. The 2009 event raised $5,500 for the free health clinic.
